Callings

Callings- a word that most of us dread hearing.

Callings can be great, but not all callings are right for everyone

A few months ago I was called as a primary teacher, I was so nervous for this calling. I didn't feel comfortable in this calling, I feel as I needed to learn a lot more, and I was enjoying going to Sunday school, we had just started D&C which I had never read.
My husband is not really active at this time and was not good with the idea of having me teach, (he knew i didn't feel comfortable with this calling)
Well I talked to my bishop and decided to give it a shot.
I did give it a shot, with an open mind and sincere heart (Moroni reference) :)
I didn't enjoy being in primary, I was with 5 year old girls, and all we did the majority of the class was sat and colored.
I was what the missionaries called a "golden investigator" I soaked up everything they taught me and continued to learn more on my own.
Sitting in primary was not where I wanted to be.

We have recently moved to a new house, and so I am no longer in that calling anymore.
Just remember, don't let anyone force you to do something you aren't ready for.

  1. Maybe the calling was a challenge for a reason.... Heavenly Father knows each of us better than we know our own selves. Through any situation He can help us through it...if we let Him. He is all knowing, and sometimes gives us trials in life to help us progress. Things may not always come easy, but I would encourage you that when something gets hard, or is not fun or easy, that's when you need church/calling involvement the most. We receive callings that we may not feel worthy or ready for, but if we ask for His guidance, we can be humbled through the experience and learn more from the position than we ever thought we could. I really hope none of this is coming off rude, because sometimes we don't feel comfortable doing things, and your choice is yours. But, I just want you to know that God knows you are capable of anything you are called to do and He loves you so much that He wants you to become comfortable in His church. Thank you for sharing your post and I hope you find yourself in a calling that you are comfortable in. (:
